The Oxford Trobadors were back at Oxford’s Holywell Music Room this month for another “spellbinding” performance. Denis Noble and Anna Lewis captivated the audience with Arnaud Daniel’s La Sestina and Ray Noble’s new interpretation of Nadau’s classic Los De Qui Cau added to an enchanting first half. Chris Britton and Keith Fairbairn’s evocative medieval pieces for recorder and percussion and Valerie Findlay’s inspired performance of Bach’s Suite in G for solo cello set the scene for a magical second half with tributes to the Beatles seamlessly programmed with new arrangements of the medieval trobador songs of Jaufre Rudel, Peire Vidal and Marcabru. An evocative performance that “touched the hearts” of the audience.
